On Dec. 12, the police department’s social media team unveiled a new feature on its official PhillyPolice Blog at blog.phillypolice.com

Every week, the cops will post their latest tally of DUI arrests.

There were 21 motorists arrested for driving under the influence from Friday, Jan. 3, through Sunday, Jan. 5, according to the latest blog entry posted on Monday. That tally does not include motorists arrested by other law enforcement agencies within the city, such as Pennsylvania State Police.

Those wishing to keep up with the latest information should follow the @PhillyPolice or @PPDEricGripp handles on Twitter. Sgt. Gripp takes care of the blog postings. Or better yet, keep an eye on the “#DUIWatch” Twitter hashtag.

Since the feature’s Dec. 12 debut, new tallies have been posted each Monday. There were 42 arrests from Dec. 13 to 15, 51 arrests from Dec. 20 to 22 and 50 from Dec. 27 to 29. ••
